Island Love Series

Kang Muxiang, who grew up in a seaside town in Miaoli, Taiwan, has endless affection and gratitude for the sea. With this appreciation for the superlative craftsmanship of nature, his sculptures reflect his life experiences, emotions, and his understanding of nature's beauty.
The hollowed-out shape, echoing the texture of the wood, is like a shell, sturdy on the outside but empty within, symbolic of the abundant vitality of the ocean. The semi-abstract lines retain a human form and symbolize the soft and sensual beauty of the ocean mother and her ethereal charm.
