Kang Mu-Xiang (born 1961), a famous contemporary artist in Taiwan, is often referred to as a "modern primitive man." Born in Tongxiao Town, Miaoli County, started studying at the age of 13, studying traditional wood carving techniques, and entering the path of art creation.

康木祥,1961年生,台灣著名的當代藝術家,被譽為 「 現代原始人 」。出生於苗栗縣通霄鎮,13歲開始學習傳統木雕技藝,踏入藝術創作之路。

2002年,康木祥受邀至台灣龜山島駐地創作,他以當地漂流木為媒材,打造出具有生命力的 「 生命 」 系列作品,詮釋自然與人類共存的理念。2013年,他利用台北101退役的鋼纜,創作出環保再生藝術作品「無限生命」,目前矗立於台北101廣場,成為台灣文化與再生精神的象徵。自2016年起,他的鋼纜系列作品陸續在德國、瑞士、法國與美國等地展出,將台灣文化價值與環保意識推向國際舞台。他擅於將廢棄材料賦予新生命,探索物件的可能性與人類情感的連結。

康木祥的創作不僅是一種視覺藝術,更是一場跨越時間與空間的心靈旅程。他的作品經常以反思生命、自然與人性的主題,透過創作向觀眾提問,並傳達對環境的關懷以及對文化傳承的重視。

Kang Mu-Xiang (born 1961), a famous contemporary artist in Taiwan, is often referred to as a "modern primitive man." Born in Tongxiao Town, Miaoli County, started studying at the age of 13, studying traditional wood carving techniques, and entering the path of art creation.

In 2002, Kang Mu Xiang received the creation of Gushan Island, Taiwan, and other local driftwood materials, and the "life" series works with the vitality of the hammered tools, and the philosophy of coexistence with nature and humanity. In 2013, Taipei 101 decommissioned steel was used for other purposes, and the environmental conservation and restoration art work ``Infinite Life'' was created, and the Taipei 101 square was soon established, creating a spiritual symbol of Taiwan's cultural and regeneration. Launched in 2016, other steel series works continue to be exhibited in Dekoku, Ruishi, Faguo and Miku, etc., and Taiwanese culture is promoted on the international stage to promote environmental conservation awareness. In other ways, the disposal of materials gives rise to new life, the possibility of exploring objects and the emotional connection of human beings. 

Kang Mu-Xiang's creation is a kind of visual art, and it is a mental journey that transcends time and space. Other works are always antithetical to life, natural and human sexual themes, transparent creative perspectives are proposed, and the emphasis is placed on traditional development, environmental considerations, and cultural tradition.
