Potsdamer Platz was the bustling city center of Berlin until, thanks to the Second World War, it was completely destroyed and left in ruins for a long period of time.

In the ensuing Cold War, the plaza was bisected by the Berlin Wall, witness to the divisive history between East and West Germany. After East and West Germany reunited, the vast open space that was once closed regained its former glory as it transformed into Berlin's transportation hub, reborn as an important city center.

Curator Wang Weiwei described, "this land, once witness to separation and death, can now experience reunion and rebirth, thanks to the human desire for love and connection. Kang Muxiang uses this same spirit to give new life to industrial waste. By interacting with his work, the alienation and estrangement of the post-industrial era can be broken. We believe that this is the power that enables human beings to move forward in these chaotic times."

Kang Muxiang's works are devoted to interacting with the viewer. Several kids played around "Ignore Me" in the Platz, breaking the sense of distance of ordinary public art.
